On Sunday September 20, 2026, the Teatro Vivaldi in Jesolo hosts TEDxJesolo 2026, the event dedicated to ideas worth sharing. Following the success of TEDxWomen Jesolo, an official TEDx appointment returns, inviting us to view reality from new perspectives.
The theme of this edition is "Taboo": an invitation to respectfully and openly address topics that are often avoided. Creating space for uncomfortable themes means listening to diverse experiences, overcoming prejudices, and imagining a more aware community.

A universal word
Taboo comes from the Polynesian tapu, meaning forbidden, sacred. It is one of the few terms that have entered almost all languages of the world without changing form — and this is not a coincidence. Every culture has its taboos: invisible boundaries that influence how we think, act, and relate to one another, often without even realizing it.
There are taboos about the body and health. About relationships and family. About work, failure, and death. About the technology that scares us but we do not know how to discuss. About society that is changing faster than we can accept.
Choosing Taboo as a theme does not mean wanting to provoke. It means acknowledging that the boundaries of what is possible to say, think, and imagine together — need to be redefined.
A stage for what is not said
TEDxJesolo 2026 aims to be that space: a stage for ideas that often remain only in the minds of those who think them.
Not a place for breaking norms for the sake of scandal, but a space for conscious liberation. Where the courage to cross one’s boundaries becomes storytelling, and the storytelling becomes shared possibility.
On stage, we will bring true stories, unexpected perspectives, and speakers who have had the courage to face their own taboos — and to tell them without filters.
How is the theme proposed?
Each speaker will take the theme as a starting point, but will interpret it in a personal and unexpected way. Taboo will not be a label, but a lens through which to view concrete topics, lived experiences, ideas that finally deserve space and voice.
Because talking about what is usually kept silent is not an act of transgression: it is an act of courage. And it is exactly the type of courage that has always inspired the stage of TEDxJesolo.
