With a subtle wit and in a popular setting, the profile of a judge from the late 1800s is drawn, who finds himself in the paradoxical situation of investigating a crime of which he himself is the culprit, representing the absurdity of a soul that can no longer recognize an objective reality.
The broken jug thus mocks the fallibility of human nature and the legal system, with a skillful taste for the grotesque and with a characterization of the characters that is accurate and very amusing.
Since the Italian language lends itself poorly to effectively rendering the language of peasants, the staging and setting are invigorated, fleshed out, and more effective thanks to the use of our magical and hilarious Venetian dialect.
