It is a great honor for our country to welcome Deborah Compagnoni.
Deborah will be in Alleghe on July 31 at Sala Stoppani at 21:00 for the presentation of her first book: "A Girl from the Mountains"
Deborah is the most successful Italian skier of all time at the Olympic level, the first and only one to have won three
gold medals in three different editions of the Winter Olympic Games in the history of alpine skiing.
In addition to the 3 golds and 1 silver Olympic medals, her achievements include 3 world golds, a World Cup in Giant Slalom
and 44 podium finishes in the World Cup.
One has to wonder what else she could have won in her extraordinary career if fate had not
repeatedly tested her with many serious injuries: the cry of pain after the fall in
Albertville in 1992, during the giant slalom, which was televised live, is still remembered by all
ski enthusiasts around the world.
When she competed, her popularity and likability matched that of Valentino Rossi and Alberto Tomba. An icon
of sport, she is now engaged in projects related to winter sports with her ski clothing line OVS
Altavia by Deborah Compagnoni, a Special Edition of her historical Dynastar skis, and her first book "A
Girl from the Mountains" published by Rizzoli.
Since 2021, she has decided to use her vast experience in winter sports to benefit the
upcoming Olympics in Italy by serving as the Ambassador for the Milano-Cortina
2026 Olympics and Paralympics, with the mission to convey the Olympic values and the great opportunity for Italy to host the
largest sporting event in the world.
A ski slope has been named after her in her hometown, Santa Caterina Valfurva in Valtellina, a stretch of the
promenade in Jesolo, and an airplane of the ITA fleet.
She leads a healthy and active lifestyle and has always been socially engaged with her Association “Skiing
for Life” ODV, which is dedicated to fundraising to support care and research for childhood
hematological and oncological diseases; she is a UNICEF Ambassador.
