The “Relay for Peace City of Belluno” will take place on Wednesday, December 10th. The day will unfold in several moments:
9:30: Flag-raising at Piazza Duomo, institutional greetings from civil authorities: the President of the Province of Belluno, the Mayor, and the Prefect of Belluno, and sports figures: the President of CONI Veneto Dino Ponchio, the regional President of CIP Davide Giorgi, the Regional Responsible for Special Olympics Elisabetta Pusiol, and the President of Panathlon International Giorgio Chinellato.
– at the Teatro Comunale of Belluno “Dino Buzzati”, with some shows on the theme of peace presented by high school students. This will be followed by a speech from Dr. Antonella Stelitano on the theme of the Olympic Truce, and a speech from the President of Panathlon International. Some CONI, CIP, and Special Olympics athletes will also speak.
16:00: students will gather at Piazza Duomo for the relay. The students will take on the role of torchbearers, carrying the torch together through the historic center of Belluno. Several stops are planned along the route, during which the students will share their reflections on the theme of peace and respect for fundamental human rights (on the occasion of the anniversary of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights). At the end of the relay at Piazza Duomo, in the presence of the community, the official appeal for the Olympic Truce ahead of the Milan-Cortina 2026 Winter Olympics will be read, followed by the lowering of the flag, greetings, and the singing of the anthem for peace (a musical appeal for peace).
18: at the Teatro Comunale, a gospel concert performed by the Joy Singers choir from Venice, conducted by Andrea D’Alpaos. During the concert, the anthem for peace will be performed again.
The concert is open to the public. Admission is free until seats are filled.
