The Transpelmo is a mountain running race that unfolds around the impressive bulk of Monte Pelmo in Val di Zoldo, within the UNESCO Dolomites World Heritage site.
The longest route is a loop of 19.5 km (D+ 1450 m) starting from the locality of Pecol, at the foot of the Civetta range. Runners will tackle an initial uphill section through the woods, before continuing at a higher altitude along a wide path, surrounded by vast pastures and stretches of larch trees, until reaching Rifugio Venezia, where the first refreshment station will be set up nearby.
From this point, the challenging ascent will begin, which leads through a first small pass to a steep gravel slope and finally to the magnificent Forcella Val d'Arcia, the highest and most majestic point of the course (2607 meters).
The descent will take place down the long, constant gravel slope until it joins the path leading to Passo Staulanza, where the second refreshment station will be set up. After a brief initial ascent, the final phase of the descent will begin, which, passing through Pian dei Buoi, will lead to Palafavera to cover the final stretch back to Pecol.
An exciting adventure, discovering the various faces of the most well-known monolith of the Dolomites, referred to by many as the “Throne of God” due to the grandeur of its bulk.
Alongside the Skyrun is the new Pelmo Sprint Run, a shorter and faster race of 8.5 km for 650 D+. Dedicated to those who take on more agile distances, but without sacrificing the spectacular scenery and the wild nature of the Dolomites in Val di Zoldo.
