Serravalle was a very important place for trade in the Middle Ages and Renaissance, a strategic point along the Alemagna Road. Arriving from Venice, here began the ascent towards the north. On the other hand, arriving from the countries across the Alps, after the narrow pass of Serravalle, the hardships of a long and rugged journey were over and the flat part began.
