Serravalle was a very important place for trade in the Middle Ages and Renaissance, a strategic point along the Alemagna Road. Coming from Venice, this was where the uphill journey north began. Conversely, arriving from the neighboring countries, after the narrow passage of Serravalle, the hardships of a long and difficult journey were over and the flat part began. Tiziano, a great artist and skilled businessman, also passed through Serravalle. We will walk together with him and the “foreigners” - merchants, pilgrims, artists and
others, discussing wool, silk, wine, and art.
