On Saturday, January 23 at 8:45 p.m. there will be a performance "Tape - The Recording", at the Teatro Comunale Dino Buzzati.
Tape is a tense and gripping text that delves into the mechanisms of memory, the need for truth, and the underground violence of emotional relationships. In a motel room, Jon, an aspiring director with ideals, meets his old friend Vince, a neurotic firefighter who is intoxicated by alcohol. The two have not seen each other since high school.
Amid jokes and provocations, the conversation takes a turn for the worse: Vince insists on an episode from the past in which Jon supposedly had a confusing sexual relationship with Amy, who was then Vince's girlfriend. Things get complicated when Amy unexpectedly arrives in the room. In front of her, the versions of the facts clash, and we see three people take turns telling their truths, each their own.
In a time when words like consent, abuse, and guilt continue to dominate public debate, Stephen Belber offers an essential and brutal contemporary drama that lays bare the moral contradictions of a generation, forcing the characters, and with them the audience, to ask: what does it really mean to take responsibility for what one has done, or for what one has allowed to happen?
