On Sunday, January 18 at 9:00 PM, at Palazzo Crepadona, there will be a screening of the silent film "South" by Frank Hurley, with live musical commentary by Paolo Forte.
The film was released in 1919 to document with exceptional images what is still considered one of the greatest exploration adventures, the shipwreck of the vessel Endurance under the command of Captain Ernest Shackleton and his 22 men amidst the ice of the South Pole, from 1914 to 1916. From this ice trap, Shackleton and all his sailors managed to escape with an epic journey in lifeboats across the Arctic Ocean and an alpine crossing of the islands encountered.
A masterpiece of cinema recently restored, South will be live-commented by the accordion of Paolo Forte, a versatile musician with great expressive abilities.
