On Thursday May 21 at 6:00 p.m., there will be a presentation of the book “Pre'Lorenzo Busnardo: the life of a chess champion adventurer in the Renaissance" edited by Stefano Zulian.
A long historical research on the heresy trials of the Inquisition of Belluno concerning men from the parish of Mussolente, which once belonged to the diocese of Belluno, has also unveiled multiple aspects - social, religious, urban - of Belluno in the second half of the sixteenth century.
We will talk about the spectacular act of abjuration in the cathedral, the bright prison and the dark one, the trials and how and if torture took place, Inquisitor fra' Bonaventura Maresio, Eustachio Rudio, a renowned physician involved in the maneuvers of the Inquisition, and the chess champion tried in Belluno, with Popes and Supreme Inquisitors intervening to help him.
Free admission.
