Beyond the Peaks returns to Belluno from October 2 to October 11 for a new journey to discover the Dolomites. At the heart of this edition is a curious look at the territory and the profound transformations it has undergone in the last 150 years.
Guiding us is the extraordinary tale of Amelia B. Edwards, an English writer and traveler who explored the Dolomites in the 19th century with her friend Lucy, leaving us a precious testimony of a world then still little known. In her book Untrodden Peaks and Unfrequented Valleys, now republished in Italy as Cime inviolate e valli sconosciute, mountains and valleys appear wild, remote, and surprising.
Since then, much has changed: roads, transport, tourism, and hospitality have profoundly transformed the landscape and the life of the Dolomite communities. Nevertheless, among the peaks and valleys, something extraordinary remains: the millennial intertwining of nature, history, and culture that makes this territory unique.
Beyond the Peaks invites you to rediscover the Dolomites with new eyes, allowing yourself to be surprised by what has changed and by what still endures. An opportunity to view the mountains not just as a destination to reach, but as a space to know, live in, and cherish.
