The cooperative dairies of Valbelluna open their doors to tell a story made of passion, craftsmanship, and a deep bond with the mountains. "Open Dairies in Valbelluna" returns with its 18th edition and invites the public to experience an authentic discovery of one of the most precious heritages of the Belluno area.
During the days of the event, participating dairies will welcome visitors and families with live demonstrations of traditional processing: from the production of schiacciate, ricotta, and mozzarella to the artisanal stretching of cheeses, and from the processing of butter to blue cheeses. Cheesemakers, industry technicians, and ONAF collaborators will guide the public in discovering the secrets of a knowledge passed down through time.
The 2026 edition also offers a rich calendar of collateral events: themed dinners and lunches in local restaurants led by ONAF Belluno tasters, appointments dedicated to pairing wines and cheeses, cultural visits, nature excursions, meetings on mountain agriculture, and in-depth sessions dedicated to enhancing raw milk and local products.
Among the most awaited appointments, Sunday, May 31 will be the central day of "Open Dairies," with activities spread across the dairies of Camolino, Sedico, Lentiai, Frontin, Sant'Antonio Tortal, Valmorel, Valpiana, La Schirata, and Il Colle del Tiglio: live processing, tastings, guided tours, popular entertainment, and moments dedicated to discovering the rural culture of Valbelluna.
"Open Dairies in Valbelluna" is not just a food event, but an opportunity to learn closely about the value of mountain cooperatives, support local productions, and rediscover the authentic bond between man, nature, and territory.
