An immersion in the water and cultural heritage of Belluno is scheduled for Thursday, May 29 at 6:00 PM, with the inauguration of the exhibition “The Civilization of Fountains” at the prestigious Palazzo Crepadona. The initiative, promoted by the Municipality of Belluno – Department of Culture, aims to enhance the fountains in the historic center of Belluno and the fountains and washbasins of Castionese.
The exhibition is part of the project “Minore. A Beacon on Cultural Heritage,” a project by Italia Nostra that involves the third sector and local communities in enhancement initiatives, supported by the Ministry of Labor. This important exhibition was also made possible thanks to the patronage of the Department of Culture of the Municipality of Belluno, with the support of the Province of Belluno, ICOMOS, the Dolomiti UNESCO Foundation, ACS ASD Circolo Andrea Caffi, and Pro Loco Pieve Castionese.
The inauguration event will feature qualified speakers:
- Daniela Perco, anthropologist, will give a talk titled “Taming the Waters: Fountains, Wells, Washbasins…,” offering an in-depth perspective on the relationship between humans and water throughout the ages.
- The students of the III B class of the Scientific High School “Galilei” in Belluno will also be present, demonstrating the importance of education and the involvement of new generations in the knowledge and protection of heritage.
An unmissable opportunity for residents and visitors to discover and appreciate the history and significance of fountains, vital elements that have shaped the landscape and social life of local communities.
