The Ex Tempore Wood Sculpture is a competition organized by the Consortium Belluno Historic Center, which has long been the most awaited event of the Belluno autumn, in the period leading up to the beloved feast of the Patron Saint, St. Martin (November 11).
Established in the now distant 1986, the event is one of the most important national exhibitions in terms of popularity and tradition: participants in the symposium come from all over Italy.
Day after day, amidst the scent of larch wood and the sound of chisels and chainsaws, sculptors animate the streets and squares of the historic center, shaping their works under the curious eyes of passersby, both young and old.
The inauguration of the Belluno City of Wood Festival and the XXXVIII Ex Tempore of Wood Culture will take place on Tuesday, November 4th, in the Noble Hall of the Fulcis Museum at 11:30 AM.
This will be an opportunity to reaffirm how important wood is for the city and province of Belluno: what it means for our identity as mountain dwellers, as well as for our present and the future we envision.
It is a material at the center of numerous challenges, many of which have already been faced in the past by skilled artisans.
This exhibition aims to involve a wide audience in discovering this material as the protagonist of our past, present, and future.
