On Friday, January 23 at 6:00 PM, the Crepadona Cultural Center will host the conference by LAV "The Return of Wolves. Understanding Them to Coexist Safely. Between Understandable Concerns and Scientific Realities."
The return of the wolf in the province of Belluno has generated great concern among the citizens who, lacking useful information to facilitate peaceful coexistence with the species, are often victims of alarmist news based more on preconceived notions than on the actual ethological and biological knowledge of the species.
This situation has only increased the legitimate concerns of the community, also generating fears that are largely unfounded, with significant negative repercussions affecting serenity and social relations. An information and training intervention for citizens can no longer be postponed, organized in collaboration with institutional bodies and the most accredited representatives of the scientific community.
A training and informational meeting is therefore being proposed for citizens, during which the most up-to-date scientific information useful for preventing and safely managing potential encounters with wolves will be made available. But also necessary to dispel the negative myths that have accompanied the return of the species throughout our country, creating concerns that all administrations, at any level, should address.
Greetings from the Mayor of Belluno, Oscar De Pellegrin; greetings from the LAV office in Belluno.
Speakers: Massimo Vitturi, Head of the Wild Animals Area at LAV; Isidoro Furlan, General of the Forestry Carabinieri Reserve, former Provincial Commander of Belluno; Renato Semenzato, biologist for the Life Wolfalps project and lecturer of university master's programs.
