The opera at the Mut theater always offers great emotions; the magic of the places, the organizational efficiency, and the professionalism of the artists have become characteristics of a unique event.
The summer appointment with the so-called "Lirica silvestre al Mut" has become an icon of Belluno's cultural scene.
The event is organized and managed in every detail by the Amici del Mut association (logistics, theater setups, concept and realization of various scenic designs, coordination, and costumes for the extras); the artistic part is managed by the Belluno tenor Domenico Menini, while the direction is handled by the Bolognese Dario Turrini, who, in addition to rewriting the opera to adapt it to the context of the Mut, also takes on the role of narrating actor.
The Mut theater is located just above the village of Sossai in Belluno, reachable by a 45-minute walk, and is situated in an area characterized by countless dry-stone walls supporting equally numerous terraces.
After reopening the ancient path "Troi del Mut," the volunteers of the Amici del Mut Association have recovered and restored this unique and evocative arena formed by 7 terraced levels bordered by rocky scenery, a place of unexpected beauty and surprising scenery, which offers ideal acoustics for lyric music performances.
In 2017, a musical show featuring tenor Domenico Menini was staged; in 2018, the opera "La Traviata" was performed; in 2019, the opera "L'elisir d'Amore"; in 2021, Bizet's opera "Carmen"; in 2022, the operetta "La Vedova Allegra" by Franz Lehár; in 2023, the opera "La Boheme" by Giacomo Puccini; and in 2024, the opera "Tosca" by Giacomo Puccini.
For safety reasons and in compliance with current regulations, the number of spectators will be limited to 200 people.
Admission will be ticketed (20.00 euros; reduced to 10.00 euros for children under 12), only available in advance at the Caffè Deon in Belluno, Piazza dei Martiri n.31, starting August 1, 2025, (hours: from 9 to 12:30 and from 16:30 to 19), where all details of the event will be provided.
