On the occasion of the Olympic Torch Relay, the Municipality of Alpago, in collaboration with the Circolo Cultura e Stampa Bellunese, is organizing a presentation of the book by Kristian Ghedina on Wednesday, January 28th at 6.00 PM at the Municipal Gym of Farra d'Alpago, with the author present.
“Ghedo. I’m not in a hurry but I go fast” tells the story of Kristian Ghedina, with thirteen World Cup victories, thirty-three podiums, three world medals, and Olympic ones being his Achilles' heel; at least until the arrival of Dominik Paris, the strongest downhill skier Italy has ever had since the epic times of Zeno Colò. He still has his own place among the giants of alpine skiing.
A story that is the novel of a life marked by the pain of the tragic loss of his mother when he was just fifteen, and of a career divided in two, before and after the car accident in 1991 when he himself seriously risked losing his life. He has won and lost, fallen and gotten back up: always with a smile. “For me, the most beautiful victory is being who I am,” he says. Kristian Ghedina has been, and still is, the champion of the people; he is pop, understood as “popular” in the purest sense of the term. In one word, you say “Ghedo” and you breathe empathy. An example of what a true champion should be.
