At the National Museum of Marine Archaeology, a captivating contemporary art exhibition takes shape, bringing together the world of archaeology with the perspective of today’s artists.
The exhibition, titled “How Deep is the Sea” and curated by Boris Brollo, invites visitors to explore the sea not only as a physical space but as a symbolic and mysterious dimension: a place made of submerged memories, forgotten stories, and scenarios that are still largely unexplored.
The exhibition path unfolds within the museum's rooms through a series of artistic interventions specifically designed for the environments and the exhibited archaeological finds, creating a continuous dialogue between past and present. Featured in the exhibition are the works of Luca Buvoli, Simonetta Moro, Simon Ostan Simone, and Aga Ousseinov, who, through different languages – from painting to drawing, from installations to video – reinterpret the sea as a source of life, but also as a fragile space rich with contemporary meanings.
The experience thus becomes immersive and reflective, prompting visitors to question not only the history preserved in the seabeds but also the future of the marine ecosystem.
The inauguration is scheduled for Saturday, May 16 at 6:00 p.m., by invitation; on this occasion, the museum will have a special opening. The exhibition will then be open for visits until September 27, 2026, included in the museum entrance ticket.
The exhibition follows the museum's opening hours: Monday and Tuesday from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., Friday and Sunday from 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m..
