The “Rassegna dei Volti Lignei dei Carnevali di Montagna” competition was established in 1992, in the beautiful and evocative setting of the village of Fornesighe, after the discontinuation of the previous competition "Wooden Faces According to the Zoldan Tradition" in 1991. From the very first year, '92, the event attracts carvers from all over Veneto and beyond; the wood artists participating with their masks in the exhibition and enhancing the initiative are continually increasing, especially from the entire Alpine region.
A jury of specialists evaluates the faces and determines the winner, then announcing the theme for the next edition. Indeed, the subject on which the works must be inspired changes each time, allowing those who create them to express themselves on multiple fronts and touch on ever-relevant themes.
For the 2026 edition, the chosen theme is "the Olympics"; the works will be on display at the “Al Piodech” hall in Fornesighe (former dairy), where the awards ceremony will take place at the end of the exhibition.
