Founded in 1966, it is the longest-running national choral competition in Italy. For half a century, it has been a point of reference for the entire Italian choral community. Over the years, the choral competition has also paid particular attention to children's, school, and youth choirs.
In recent editions, with the “project-program” formula, the artistic committee has focused on execution programs, aiming to promote the renewal of the repertoire of Italian choirs and provide enthusiasts with structured and comprehensive proposals. There are various categories of participation: ranging from sacred and secular polyphony to folk-inspired music, including Vocal pop-jazz, gospel, and spiritual, as well as school choirs.
On Saturday, May 30, there will be an opportunity for all enthusiasts, in the picturesque setting of the Lorenzo Da Ponte Theater, to participate in the final concert “Gran Premio Efrem Casagrande,” a prestigious recognition in memory of the illustrious musician from Vittoria, founder of the competition, which since 1991 the winning choirs have been contending for.
