The national violin prize "City of Vittorio Veneto" was founded in 1962; the designer and coordinator of the competition was Mario Benvenuti (1915-1995), a violinist and violist from Conegliano, a concert performer and an educator of the highest caliber. For over fifty years, the Vittorio Veneto violin competition has witnessed generations of violinists and has represented the main point of reference for Italian schools for string instruments.
In 2020, after six years of suspension, the Municipality of Vittorio Veneto decided to resume the Competition and relaunch it with an international dimension, focusing on the young talents of the European Union.
From Sunday, August 23, the start date of the competition, until Wednesday, August 26, the public will have the opportunity to attend the rehearsals and the semifinals that will take place at the Teatro Da Ponte.
This year, the competition is enriched with two important events: a concert on the evening of August 28 dedicated to Mozart and Lorenzo Da Ponte and the final concert scheduled for Saturday, August 29 with the extraordinary participation of the Orchestra of Teatro La Fenice.
