To celebrate its 60th anniversary, Isbrec is organizing a series of five meetings that will accompany us until December.
The review, titled “Italy: A Nation Without Borders” will help us reflect on the idea of nation, on how this concept has evolved from the late 19th century to Fascism, and will allow us to question this concept in relation to republican Italy and some significant turning points in our history, from the partisan struggle to the transition between the first and second republic, up to the theme of borders and their permeability.
The first meeting is titled: Partisan War and Rejection of War with Prof. Santo Peli.
Santo Peli, a graduate in Humanities, taught contemporary history at the Faculty of Political Sciences of the University of Padua until 2013.
His research fields focus particularly on working-class conflict between the First and Second World Wars and the Italian Resistance.
Among his works The Other Army. The Working Class in the Great War (Feltrinelli, 1980), The Difficult Resistance (BFS editions, 1999, reprinted in 2018), The Resistance in Italy. History and Critique (Einaudi, 2004) and Stories of Gaps. Urban Terrorism and Resistance (Einaudi, 2014).
The event is free of charge.
We thank the friends who have made themselves available to celebrate Isbrec. Certificates of attendance will be issued to participating teachers. The citizenship is invited.
