On Sunday, April 12, 2026, from 9:00 AM to 12:00 PM and from 2:00 PM to 5:00 PM, the Borgo Piave ETC aps association opens to the public the air raid shelter of Borgo Piave, located on Via Alzaia, near the Vittoria Bridge in Belluno.
It will be possible to enter, by reservation, in groups of 20 people every 40 minutes during the defined hours and discover the place where, towards the end of the Second World War, the inhabitants of the village and others rushed to take shelter during the air raids conducted by the Allies.
These are indeed shelters built in 1944, at a time when Belluno was under direct control of the Nazi troops along with Trento and Bolzano as part of the “Alpenvorland” operation.
On the walls, you will see evocative writings in a typical 1930s font that read “Calm,” “Silence,” “No smoking,” and instructions on behavior to be adopted inside the tunnels.
The guided tours are based on the thesis of architect Vincenzo Russotto on underground Belluno.
A minimum voluntary contribution starting from 5 euros per person will be useful for the association's spring and summer activities (the contribution is to be made on-site).
Thanks to the Culture Department of the Municipality of Belluno, represented by Raffaele Addamiano, for the granting.
