This free webinar promotes cord blood donation and invites dads to become Hematopoietic Stem Cell Donors, project "Baby donates, dad donates."
Here is the program: Dr. Pietro Manca, hematologist at the University Hospital of Sassari, will talk about the donation of hematopoietic stem cells for transplants benefiting patients with leukemia and other serious oncological-hematological conditions who do not have a compatible donor in the family and are seeking one among the volunteers registered with the Italian Donor Registry ibmdr; following Dr. Francesca Tormena, pediatrician in Neonatal Intensive Care at Treviso, who will discuss cord blood donation for both transplants and transfusions in premature newborns; Dr. Giorgia Furlan, midwife, will elaborate on how the collection of cord blood is conducted in perfect safety for mothers and newborns and will encourage couples to donate and dads to register with the Registry as required by the Baby donates, dad donates project.
For mothers in Feltre: every month the Midwife overseeing this project meets with couples who choose to donate at the Maternity Department's Secretariat to carry out the pre-donation anamneses. The Experts present will also be available to answer questions.
