On Saturday, December 27, there will be a guided tour of Borgo Piave, a journey to discover log hauliers, historic bridges, and traditions along the Piave, in two shifts at 11:00 AM or 2:30 PM.
An exciting path through the most authentic soul of Belluno: starting from the Ponte della Vittoria and the ancient “Pontet,” where the Piave still tells its strength, we will then delve into the heart of Borgo Piave, once a bustling port for log hauliers from Cadore. Among narrow streets and views of the river, we will visit the 16th-century Casa Secco with the Museum of Dolomite Masks, the guardian of frescoes and costumes from the Belluno carnivals.
The journey will continue to the church of San Nicolò, patron saint of river men, and to the charming Bote gòn, the ancient inn where log hauliers found shelter and which now houses a small museum rich in tools, photographs, and stories of work and courage. The itinerary will conclude on the banks of the Piave, at the point where it meets the Ardo stream, where once flowed the canal that powered mills, tanneries, and forges. A fascinating journey to discover how water has shaped the life, culture, and identity of Borgo Piave over the centuries.
