Villa Poli- De Pol-Sammartini

The Villa Poli-De Pol-Sammartini, located in the Mare area of San Pietro di Cadore, is one of the three palaces built by the Poli family in Comelico and their main residence. Constructed starting in 1672 and renovated between 1781 and 1783, the year it was completed, it combines the elegance of Venetian villas with local architectural tradition, likely rising on the ruins of an ancient fortress.
In 1734 it passed to the De Pol family and was inhabited until 1828. The original complex included the central body, two lateral wings, the barchessa, and a large exedra, now separated from the villa due to the construction of the state road.
The façade, enhanced by an archway portal, balconies, stone balustrades, and large decorated openings, introduces interiors that preserve frescoes, stuccoes, painted wooden panels, and valuable 18th-century decorations. Completely restored by the Meneghetti-Sammartini family, the villa still represents one of the most important historical and artistic testimonies of Comelico.
