Once, the garden was owned by the Jesuits. Inaugurated in 1960, it owes its name to the fact that during the Resistance against Nazifascism, a close collaboration was established between the Bolognese and Belluno partisans.
In 2010, sculptor Massimo Facchin, a veteran of the Russian campaign, placed in the center of the city park of Bologna a bronze bas-relief that commemorates the fallen in Russia during the First World War. The central panel is etched with the word: “Why,” repeated in all languages to testify to the senselessness of wars.
In May 2025, the park “The Island That Isn’t” was inaugurated, a new inclusive playground, the first in the province, and, with an area of 660 square meters and 130 children, the largest themed park in Europe.
It consists of eleven games divided into five thematic areas inspired by the scenes and symbolic places of the Peter Pan fairy tale: the Jolly Roger, a faithful reconstruction of the famous pirate galleon, the Sirens' Lagoon, Skull Rock, the Indian Camp, and the Tree, a magical refuge where children can let their imagination run wild and stimulate creativity.
