The Belluno Community purchased in 1428 in San Boldo from Antonio Tatulino of Trichiana a straw-covered house with attached tabià, stable and curtivo for 150 lire. Currently, the instrument of sale, executed by the notary Antonio Doglioni, is the oldest notarial deed regarding San Boldo.
In 1470 Marco da Polpet obtained a license to open an inn in San Boldo – hospitia. It is known that since the Middle Ages, not only along the busiest roads but also in more isolated areas, far from towns and unwelcoming places, such as mountain passes, or generally in strategic areas, hospitia were established, serving as inns, lodgings for pilgrims and travelers, and shelters for the sick.
Until the early 1900s, the ancient Muda-inn of San Boldo had essentially remained the same as in the 15th century; unfortunately, after the war it underwent a restoration that erased all traces of the three arches on the ground floor and the 15th-century bifora windows on the first floor. Nevertheless, the three stone coats of arms remain as a reminder of the ancient building.
Today the inn is recognized as the oldest inn in Veneto.
