Malga Montegal is located at about 1000 meters above sea level, just above the center of Valmorel, immersed among the woods and pastures of the Belluno Prealps. The structure is owned by the Municipality of Limana and is managed by Matia and Laura.
It is an authentic alpine pasture, where cows are raised according to traditional methods and cheeses, butter, and ricotta are produced, thanks also to the presence of an internal dairy for milk processing. The company is also a member of the Sant’Antonio Tortal dairy. The malga is open year-round and serves as a starting point for panoramic itineraries such as the “Giro delle Malghe” and the walk of “Pian delle Femene.” It is part of the Cheese and Flavors Road of the Belluno Dolomites.
Guests can enjoy dishes prepared with products from the farm and purchase items such as eggs, cured meats, and cheeses directly. Themed dinners are offered during the week, respecting the seasonality of the products and the availability of animals.
The structure retains an authentic and welcoming atmosphere, characterized by the simplicity of the malga, the scent of wood, and the presence of free animals, evoking the tradition and rhythms of the past. The company follows a short supply chain logic, from pasture to barn to product processing.
The malga offers the opportunity to visit the farm and taste the products, allowing for direct contact with nature and the genuine flavors of the territory.
