The Villa was built in the 17th century by the noble Gregorio Rota, whose family, originally from Bergamo, settled in Cordignano in the second half of the 15th century, coming from Sacile. The Villa and the park are located in the heart of the village, along the banks of the Meschio River. Built according to the traditional scheme of Venetian countryside villas, it is characterized by a long avenue enriched with statues from the 17th and 18th centuries. Numerous historical events related to the war between France and Austria marked the Villa, which indeed witnessed the passage of over 40,000 Austrian soldiers around 1815, later becoming a field hospital during the retreat from Caporetto. Today the entire area is owned by Angela Pavan Zanussi.
