The trail dedicated to Girolamo Segato, an illustrious native of Sospirolo, naturalist, Egyptologist, explorer, anthropologist, cartographer, but especially known for his art of petrification, which was born right in the Certosa di Vedana, is a very simple walk of about 200m in elevation and can be completed in about 2.5 hours.
It leads us to one of the most unique corners of Valbelluna, which encompasses in just a few kilometers the beautiful Certosa di Vedana, the homonymous lagoon, a natural biotope where many animal species nest, and the peculiar expanse of boulders of Masiere.
Leaving the car at the height of the Social Center of Torbe at the foot of the church of Santa Teresa, we head towards Gron-Sospirolo and immediately encounter the first "mede," conical-shaped morainic deposits. At the first fork, we turn left and, leaving the paved road, we venture into the forest of Gron. Passing through the meadow of Case Loere and subsequently in the locality of Forcella, we take the flat path that leads to the Calmatte. Once back on the paved road, after a sharp bend with a large rustic house, we turn right, immersing ourselves in the area of the Masiere. Crossing the expanse of stones and the main road, we follow the path along the bank of the Cordevole stream with beautiful views of San Gottardo and the villas of Peron, and shortly we reach the footbridge over the stream.
After crossing the core of San Gottardoancient village remain, we walk along the walls of the Certosa. We then descend until we reach the "fonatanelle" (the starting point of the trail La "via degli Ospizi") and admire the Certosa in all its majesty.
From here, we descend to the Lago di Vedana, which we follow up to the height of the old disco and then return to the road that leads to the parking lot of Torbe.
