Formally established in 1975, opened to the public in 1983, expanded in 1998, renewed and completely restructured in 2018, the Museum of Land Reclamation tells the history of the city and the surrounding territory throughout time.
The signs of history and environmental transformations are still alive and perceivable in the large reclamation facilities, the extensive network of canals, the rural houses and the agricultural landscape, the steles and monuments from the First and Second World Wars, the river and its precious natural treasures.
The common thread of the new exhibition path is represented by man in relation to the landscape and the amphibious nature that has marked his presence, from ancient times to today: man, ingenuity, courage, water, and earth, therefore, in a timeless narrative that still serves today to read our present.
Four exhibition sections: ARCHAEOLOGICAL, RECLAMATION AND NATURALISTIC, MILITARY, and ETHNOGRAPHIC.
Formally established in 2014, the SAN DONA CIVIC MUSEUMS are an organic system of permanent collections and exhibition venues, consisting of the MUB – Museum of Land Reclamation, the Civic Gallery of Modern and Contemporary Art, the "I. Battistella" Exhibition Space, and the art collections owned by the Municipality of San Donà di Piave, which together define the cultural identity of the territory with an active, constant, shared, and coordinated role.
They carry out institutional activities of conservation, study, enhancement, and promotion of the historical, cultural, and artistic heritage of the city, through the integration of services and the coordinated management of cultural projects.
