In Valbelluna, a group of young people founded the Pascolando Agricultural Cooperative, dedicated to the breeding of dairy cattle and cheese production. The operational base is Malga Van, while the milk is processed in the ancient turn dairy of Valmorel.
The cooperative follows a rotational system: the members take turns managing animals, milking, milk processing, agritourism activities, and product sales, also taking care of the pastures to ensure their regeneration.
Malga Van, located 980 meters above Valmorel, is accessible by car or on foot along scenic paths. The agritourism is open from Easter until the end of October, offering meals on weekends and public holidays; reservation is recommended.
The breeding and sales point remain active year-round, with zero-kilometer dairy products.
During the summer, the malga offers tastings, concerts, sky observations, and educational visits. The season closes with the Desmontegada, the animal parade in Valmorel.
Malga Van is also an experimental hub of the Elserino Piol Foundation, a sustainable model that combines production, hospitality, and environmental protection.
