In Valbelluna, a group of young people founded the Agricultural Cooperative Pascolando, dedicated to the breeding of dairy cattle and the production of cheeses. The operational base is Malga Van, while the milk is processed at the ancient turning dairy of Valmorel.
The cooperative follows rotational grazing: members take turns managing animals, milking, milk processing, agritourism activities, and selling products, also caring for the pastures to ensure their regeneration.
Malga Van, at 980 meters above Valmorel, is accessible by car or on foot along scenic trails. The agritourism is open from Easter to the end of October, offering meals on weekends and public holidays; reservation is recommended.
The breeding and the sales point remain active all year round, with dairy products at zero kilometers.
During the summer, the malga offers tastings, concerts, sky observations, and educational visits. The season concludes with the Desmontegada, the parade of animals in Valmorel.
Malga Van is also an experimental center of the Elserino Piol Foundation, a sustainable model that combines production, hospitality, and land protection.
