Falesia Sassi del Mas

This unique formation, set apart in the landscape of the Belluno cliffs, constitutes the “Marocche del Cordevole” and is the result of several enormous landslides that detached from Monte Peron due to the retreat of the glacier that occupied the valley until about 15,000 years ago. The scars left by this geological upheaval are still evident on the mountain. The deposits from these landslides were then reshaped by the retreating glacier, giving rise to the mysterious landscape faced by those who today seek to tackle the delicate passages offered by the blocks of Mas. The Mas cliff presents short (up to 15 meters) and very technical routes; some routes feature old bolts, so extreme caution is advised. Take care when traversing the paths that connect the various boulders, as there are holes! Finally, a last recommendation: the cliff is entirely located on private land, so it is advised to exhibit a respectful behavior towards others' property.

Access:

Upon reaching the hamlet of Mas di Sedico, cross the bridge over the Cordevole to arrive at Ponte Mas. Just after the bridge, turn right and follow a road that will soon run alongside the quarry area; after passing it, turn left onto an asphalted road. After about 100 m, take the road on the left that delves into the woods and park (neatly! Vehicle passage) at a clearing. From here, follow the evident path that, crossing through the underbrush, heads towards the boulders. It is advised not to leave the trail and to walk on the meadows to avoid disturbing the farmers' work.
