Outside the walls, Mazzini and Caprera streets run parallel, leading to the Borgo Superiore that stretches towards Porta Cadore. At the square that separates them stands the church of S. Giovanni Battista, completed between 1357 and 1491, featuring a Romanesque bell tower from 1427 and a convent from 1387 surrounding a Renaissance cloister with octagonal columns. The interior is divided into three naves with ribbed vaults and pointed arches supported by columns with capitals adorned with bas-reliefs. Numerous tombstones on the floor refer to the oldest families of Serravalle. Notable are the Galletti chapel, first on the right, and the Sanfiori chapel, adjacent, featuring frescoes from the 15th and 16th centuries. Also in the theme of painting: works by masters of the 15th-16th centuries (Francesco da Milano, Jacopo Da Valenza) and of the 17th-18th centuries (Francesco Frigimelica, Agostino Ridolfi).
