Chiesa di San Fermo a Villaga

The Chiesetta di San Fermo, located in the hamlet of Villaga, in the municipality of Feltre (BL), represents an interesting example of neoclassical architecture integrated into the Veneto rural landscape. The current building dates back to 1894, the year it was rebuilt from scratch based on the design of architect Giuseppe Berton, not far from the original site. Previously, the chapel was a seventeenth-century private chapel, belonging to the historic Villa San Fermo, a notable patrician residence in the area.

Recognized as a significant cultural asset, the chapel was placed under protection by the Ministry of Cultural Heritage in 2015. More recently, in 2023, it underwent a careful conservative restoration intervention, financed with funds from the PNRR. The work included the restoration of the façades, recovery of the peach-colored plaster, maintenance of the roof, replacement of the metalwork, and the installation of a drainage system to protect the walls from infiltration.

The chapel is set in a particularly evocative landscape context, among farmhouses, tree-lined avenues, and the historic Villa San Fermo. In front of the building, there is also the Monument to the Fallen and Missing in War of the hamlet, which further enriches the historical and memorial value of the site.
