Chiesa Arcipretale di San Nicolò Vescovo

The church as we see it today was built in 1945, rising on the remains of the previous ancient church, which was probably constructed in the 7th century AD. Over the centuries, it underwent numerous renovations, expansions, and restorations. However, the first mention of it dates back to 1234. As early as the 16th century, the inhabitants of Villa di Villa requested that their church be elevated to parish status; this occurred in 1633. Between 1765 and 1766, the church was expanded, and the bell tower was rebuilt. The current parish church was built in two phases: between 1942 and 1943, the transept and the choir were constructed based on designs by Pietro Vendrami, while in 1945, the naves were reconstructed. In 1950, the new main altar was installed. During the same period, the floor was redone, and finally, between 2014 and 2015, the church underwent a restoration intervention.

Inside, we can find two paintings by Frigimelica, a work by Besarel painted by Luigi Cima, and also by the master of Villa di Villa, we find the 14 stations of the Via Crucis, the Last Supper, and many other works.

Imposing and precious is the Callido organ (Callidiano catalog No. 403), commissioned on August 16, 1802, and inaugurated on Pentecost of 1803. Still perfectly functioning, it is used for concerts of sacred and baroque music on special occasions.

The patron saint of the parish is St. Nicholas the Bishop, but more than the Patron's Feast on December 6, the Madonna della Provvidenza is felt and celebrated solemnly in Villa. Every year, on the first Sunday of August, after the solemn Mass, the townspeople carry the Madonna in procession through the streets of the town to the ringing of the "Campanò" and the sounds of the Band.
