It seems like a fairy tale, but it's reality: in Tambre, in the province of Belluno, there is a beautiful building entirely made of wood and filled with extraordinary features and details: the House of Books is celebrating 30 years since its construction. This house-museum is entirely sculpted in wood by the world-renowned Venetian artist Livio De Marchi, who chose the Alpago region, particularly the location of Sant’Anna a Tambre, to create a work rich in remarkable features and details. It is unique in Italy and therefore particularly deserving of a visit that will surprise both adults and children.

It will make book lovers dream just at the sight of the exterior walls, made up of hundreds of books sculpted in wood, the roof is a huge open book while instead of a chimney there is a large fountain pen. Even the outer fence follows the theme, composed of a long row of colored pencils with a large pair of glasses as a gate. The interior of the house is rich with a large number of works that make up the furnishings, all carved from wood.

In the surroundings, you can take a peaceful walk through the woods of the Cansiglio Forest, visit the Ethnographic Museum of the Cimbri in Pian Osteria, and the Natural History Museum in Chies d’Alpago.
