The small chapel of Santa Rita is indissolubly linked to the figure of the famous journalist, writer, and painter from Belluno Dino Buzzati (1906-1972).
In "The Miracles of Valmorel", a work published in 1971, the writer imagined the existence, near Valmorel, of a chapel - a sanctuary dedicated to Santa Rita, to which thirty-nine ex-voto paintings referred, which he himself had painted for a gallerist friend, depicting as many imaginative miracles performed by the Saint.
The Belluno scholar Alberto Alpago Novello suggested to the parish priest of Limana to turn into reality what the artist had imagined, constructing a chapel in honor of Santa Rita in Val Morel.
The idea also excited Buzzati himself, who wanted to contribute personally by painting the canvas subsequently displayed in the chapel.
Despite the artist's premature death, the project did not stall. Thanks to the active collaboration of the Municipal Administration of Limana and the local section of the National Alpini Association, the small chapel was built in 1973, finding an adequate location not far from the large linden tree, under which Dino Buzzati would pause to meditate and contemplate the splendid panorama of the Val Belluna.
The chapel is located at Via Valpiana, 3 (Limana), with a parking lot nearby and it is accessible without architectural barriers.
