A loop hike rich in meaning made not only for mountain enthusiasts but especially for all history lovers. The trail marked 2321 takes us to discover places of significant importance during the Second World War, linked to the Partisan Resistance and the Liberation Struggle, from the military events that occurred in Pranolz-Pian della Crosetta in 1944 during the major Nazi-Fascist roundup, to the remains of the “casere” used first as a shelter and then as a base and command post for the Partisan Brigades operating in the Belluno Valley and the Treviso area.
Here British Major Tillman and American Majors Chappel and Benucci established the foundations for the allied missions. Arriving at “Pian dele Femene”, another famous place of the Resistance, we can reflect at the monument to the Partisan Woman and visit the Resistance Museum “Agostino Piol” which displays artifacts and documents from that period.
We return towards the car we left in Melere, walking across the plateau of Canal di Limana and Montegal, which was used at that time as a landing point for weapons, food, and clothing that were dropped by Allied planes.
