In the first season, with the help of some parents who later became executives, we had our first experiences with the few kids we managed to gather in some non-competitive running races. Despite the difficulties, we affiliated in September with the C.S.I. with the aim of involving the youth of our town in various activities during the 2007-2008 sports season.
A new adventure begins that offers, in addition to athletics, table tennis and volleyball; so we try to provide families with individual sports that had never been practiced in our town, giving everyone the opportunity to engage in them.
2008 marks a turning point for our Association, which always looks ahead. In fact, we improved by affiliating with F.I.S.O. (Italian Federation of Orienteering Sports), encouraged in this beautiful sport by our neighboring Trentino friends from G.S. Pavione, represented by Bettega Adriano and Antonio Loss. We started organizing events aimed at promoting this sport and showcasing our territory outside our province.
During the third year of activity, ASD Fonzaso opened its gates to orienteers, building a group that quickly achieved excellent results, participating in national and regional championships and the Venice Meeting with many athletes, and organizing a trip with 6 athletes to the WOC Tour of the World Championships held in Norway in Trondheim in 2010, followed by Switzerland and Croatia.
Volleyball, with a group of girls enthusiastic about this sport, also became part of our association, competing in the provincial mixed amateur championship Oscar Volley.
Over the years, ASD Fonzaso has thought about further expanding its offerings, considering the requests and proposals from practitioners of other disciplines. Hence, Nordic Walking was born, a walking group mostly made up of adults aiming for excursions to maintain fitness and prevent diseases (obesity, diabetes, etc.) and socialize while enjoying the attractions of the territory. The goal is to make sports activity more stable and systematic as an educational tool for young people, with the prospect of developing new disciplines involving new kids, other volunteers, and local realities from Fonzaso and the neighboring areas.
