On Saturday, October 5th, Borgo Valbelluna will host the inaugural RunRestRun 320', a relay race on a track for teams of eight athletes plus one reserve. The race will take place on the newly renovated athletics track at La Lora di Mel. The event is organized by Gs La Piave 2000 with the patronage of the Borgo Valbelluna municipal administration.
The format is unique: each athlete - male or female - will run for 20 minutes before passing the baton to a teammate who will run for another 20 minutes. Once their turn is over, the athlete who ran the previous leg will return to the track and run for another 20 minutes. This will continue until the eighth and final member of the team.
In practice, each athlete will run a total of 40 minutes, but with a 20-minute break during which a teammate will run.
For each team, the RunRestRun 320' involves a total of 320 minutes of running.
Participation is open to all athletes born in 2010 and earlier. Teams can be male, female, or mixed. Non-competitive registration is also possible (without the need for a license or medical certificate).
At the end of the event, there will be three classifications: team, individual (male and female) for competitive athletes, and individual (male and female) for non-competitive athletes.
"It will not just be a race," explains the organizational director Johnny Schievenin. "We have planned a special award for the three most fun teams that best interpret the playful spirit of the event.
Throughout the event, there will be a bar and restaurant service and a DJ. Each team can also register one or more youth teams (born between 2011 and 2014, ed.) to participate in a demonstration Swedish relay race (100-200-300-400, ed.). We expect a great party dedicated to running and friendship."
Registrations will open on Monday, August 12th: it's best to hurry as only forty teams will be admitted to the race. The RunRestRun 320' is ready to go.
