On Saturday 23rd November at 4:00 pm at the National Museum of Sea Archaeology in Caorle (VE) the art exhibition The Wonder of Waiting. The “Errant” Knights by Domenico Castaldi will be inaugurated, created by the Regional Directorate of National Museums of Veneto in collaboration with the Neapolitan artist. Therefore, as has become customary in recent years, the experimentation at the Caorle Museum of new connections between ancient and modern, between archaeology and contemporary art, continues, starting from stories and themes that unite eras far away from each other and that create the conditions for discovering points of contact between the humanity that preceded us and that of the present, defining our cultural identity today.
Domenico Castaldi studied at the Art High School and the Academy of Fine Arts in Naples. Having moved to Portogruaro, he combined his teaching activity with that of cultural operator, painter and sculptor. He began exhibiting in authoritative public and private venues in the 1980s, with positive critical and public acclaim. Since the 1990s he has expressed himself with sculptures in terracotta and other materials.
The "errant" knights by Domenico Castaldi, sculptures that recall ancestral expressive forms of the ancient Italic peoples, seem like warriors who have come from mysterious distances, as if they had crossed the sea; and they seek, and find, a landing place, an anchorage. The sea as a metaphor for the unknown, for risk, but also as a port, as an inlet or beach where every storm calms down.
Opening: Saturday 23rd November at 4:00 pm - free admission by invitation
The exhibition will remain open to the public until 2nd March 2025 and will be included in the museum entrance ticket.
Open from Friday to Sunday, from 10 am to 6 pm.
Special openings: Thursday 26th December 2024 and Monday 6th January 2025.
